Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, scored twice in the first half to give Nigeria victory over their West African opponent, Liberia.
The match, played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium at Surulere, Lagos gave fans of the Super Eagles something to cheer about considering the insecurity ravaging the nation.
The match also put jet-legged forward, Ahmed Musa, two matches short of equalling the country’s record for most appearances. The national team record for most appearances is currently jointly held by former captains Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo.
Musa earned his 99th international cap having featured in today’s World Cup qualifier against Peter Butler’s Liberia in Lagos.
With the three-time African kings leading by two goals, thanks to a Kelechi Iheanacho’s brace, he was introduced for the Leicester City man in the 84th minute of the entertaining match.
